Chinese ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai appreciates CITIC's CSR efforts

On July 26, CITIC Myanmar held the "CITIC Group T-shirts Donation Ceremony" in Kyauk Phyu. On behalf of CITIC Group, CITIC Myanmar's Executive President Mr. Yuan Shaobin handed over T-shirts to student representatives from No.1 high school in Kyauk Phyu. The Chinese ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai who was visiting Kyauk Phyu addressed the event. Also present at the ceremony were U Than Htut Oo, the director of Kyauk Phyu district General Administration Department and other government officials from Kyauk Phyu district and township, students and teachers from No.1 high school and local residents.

In the coming weeks, CITIC Myanmar will work with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), a locally registered NGO, to donate packages containing schoolbags and stationary to another 4,000 pupils in Kyauk Phyu. CITIC and CFPA have already distributed packages and clothes to 3,000 students in Kyauk Phyu in December 2018.

In his speech, H.E. Mr. Chen Hai appreciated CITIC Group's CSR efforts in Myanmar that further deepen the friendship of China and Myanmar. He also expressed expectation that the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone (KPSEZ) project would be built soon so that local people would begin to benefit from the project.

Mr. Yuan Shaobin reviewed CITIC's business and the CSR programs in Myanmar in the past three decades. He stressed that CITIC would continue to carry out CSR programs to meet various public welfare needs in Kyauk Phyu including education. Mr. Yuan Shaobin pointed out, once the KPSEZ project is fully operated, it could provide about 100,000 jobs. He also encouraged the students to study hard and acquire skills needed to participate in the project, so that they could grow together with Kyauk Phyu.
